Business that aids remote working cans full remote working for workers
Dr Mumbo had to have a chuckle when perusing this morning’s international headlines. Enabler of remote working, pusher of virtual meetings and general strain on the NBN, Zoom, has ordered its employees back to the office at least two days per week.
Let’s have a think about that one just to make sure it has sunk in. Remote working solution Zoom has ordered staff back to the office.
The BBC reported: “The firm said it believed a ‘structured hybrid approach’ was most effective and people living within 50 miles (80km) of an office should work in person at least twice a week.”
Noted in the same report is the fact that Zoom once said its workers could work remotely indefinitely.
Dr Mumbo feels the news with employees will go down about as well as the stock has of late.
It might mean that Zoom is about to cut staff numbers. A lot of companies are announcing return to office policies before they cut staff in the hopes that a few staff will resign. That way they can cut back on redundancy payments (or whatever they call it in their country).
